This is your daily horoscope for Thursday, july 17th 2025. The action starts out around 12 am when the moon in Aries forms a trine with Mercury and Leo. When these two planets come together, this is a great time for communication, for deeper understanding, for learning something new and also for connecting with your intuition. You're able to make decisions with a little more ease and confidence. If you are sleeping around this time, maybe you are having a lovely dream or just having some solid sleep. Now, the main event of the day? Actually, that's not true. There are two main events of the day, but one of them takes place around 5 30 PM, when we have the last quarter moon in Aries. Now this is taking place at 25 degrees, so if you have any planets or placements around 25 degrees of Aries, cancer, libra or Capricorn, you're going to feel the effects of this the most intensely. The last quarter moon is part of the moon phase where we are releasing and letting go. This is going to bring us back to the full moon in Capricorn. That took place on July 10th, so similar themes and topics from that time period might come up once again, but this is a moment to kind of recognize what isn't working and to go with the flow and tap into the energy of surrender.

Now, around 9.30 PM, mercury will station retrograde in the sign of Leo. This is taking place at 15 degrees, so if you have any planets or placements around 15 degrees of Taurus, leo, scorpio or Aquarius, you're going to feel this the most intensely. Leo, scorpio or Aquarius, you're going to feel this the most intensely, and this is going to bring us back to last August, when we also had a Mercury retrograde in Leo, so similar themes and topics might reemerge. For you, this retrograde is going to last until August 11th, and just a friendly reminder that Mercury retrogrades aren't any periods to fear or worry about. Yes, words can get tangled, there can be miscommunication, there can be more traffic, you can have technology issues, it's great to back up your phone or your computer, but ultimately this is just a planet slowing down and helping you to slow down in the process. We are not meant to push forward and be productive all the time, and if we were doing so, it is very possible and probable that you would be moving forward on an unaligned path or chasing after a goal that isn't actually authentically fulfilling. So this is a period to slow down, reflect, reassess and kind of pivot, but you can also return to old projects or old work engagements or refine some relationship patterns. This can be a moment of healing. It can be a moment of reconnecting with your creative inspiration or divine and authentic desires, because this retrograde is taking place in the sign of Leo, which is ultimately all about one's uniqueness, one's authenticity, embracing their cringe, leading with the heart and prioritizing who and what you love most.

One other thing I will say about Mercury. While it is retrograde in the sign of Leo, leo has this reputation for being self-centered. However, I think when Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Leo, this can actually help you reflect on your own unique gifts and talents. Where do you shine? How do you shine when and what makes others magnetize towards you, and how can you use those gifts and talents to facilitate and channel change in the collective? That is something great to ponder and reflect on.

As Mercury moves backward through this sign, aries, when Mercury goes retrograde in Leo, this brings old flames and crushes back into your world. Maybe you're the one who feels called to DM an ex, or maybe you're just dreaming about them or seeing their names on billboards or on social media and you're just feeling more nostalgic. Ultimately, this doesn't mean you have to have communication with an ex, but you could be reflecting on your relationship patterns and your relationship with pleasure. Maybe you're ready to explore new sides and elements of your own sexuality. This can also give you a push to return to old creative hobbies and projects that you started but lost momentum with, and sometimes, if you are working on something creative, like writing a book or starting a social media account or whatever it may be, you can temporarily lose your creative self-esteem, or maybe there's writer's block or something of the sort. This is also an opportunity to kind of reflect on that particular project and opportunity and really refine how you wanna show up and come up with a new and more aligned plan. This is also a wonderful time for doing inner child and inner teen healing work as well.

Taurus, you are feeling incredibly sentimental when Mercury goes retrograde in Leo and this is going to bring attention to your private life, your relationship with home, family and even your living situation. So for some this could look like making a decision to move, find a new roommate. Maybe you're doing home renovation projects, maybe you're just reorganizing your space or your room to make it more comfortable. This can also bring some tension or drama with family members or roommates or just kind of encourage you to address whatever has been left unsaid. This is also an emotional time that helps you reflect on your own habits and patterns that stem from your lineage or that maybe you've picked up from your primary caregivers, and it can encourage you to make changes, break cycles and choose differently, and that is an incredibly emotional process. So just make sure you are tending to your nervous system and catching up on rest as much as possible.

This could also bring some tension or drama with siblings, extended family members or best friends. You could also experience a shift in your immediate neighborhood. Maybe your neighbors move, maybe you move, and this is a time to really confront and address any simmering issues in those relationship dynamics that have been ignored for far too long. This is also an invitation to reflect on your own mindset, the way that you speak to yourself, and ultimately it can help you speak your truth. There may also be some sort of subject that you want to learn or study, or a skill that you're focusing on honing.

We do things twice, so there really is that higher potential to have to return something. And this is also a moment where you are reflecting on your personal values. Do you embody your values? Do you speak about your values, or is it something that you've just been internally thinking about? Maybe it's time to stand up for what you believe in.
